Verdict of the Week
Benefit Reforms
At last the Government has seen sense over the free for all that has become the British welfare system and is to reform it. James Purnell, the Work & Pensions Secretary, says that the jobless will have to earn their handouts before receiving benefits.
Drug addicts will have to prove that they are tackling their addiction before receiving help, and the out of control Disability benefits will be overhauled to make sure that it is not taken advantage of any longer.
The eCourt Verdict on this is that the general idea seems sound and long over due, but care must be taken not to deprive the genuinely needy, poor, sick and incapacitated, but this is a move in the right direction. Back
