Verdict of the Week

Beijing Olympics and Team GB

Not a difficult verdict to give this one. We don't know what went on behind the scenes, but if you can put aside the obvious human rights issues that still hang as thick as Beijing smog over the Chinese authorities, then just about all of the eCourt Assessors rated the Beijing Olympics a huge success, both in terms of sporting achievement and political showcasing.

The British medal count was extraordinary and went far beyond our greatest expectations. The eCourt Verdict for Team GB was a unanimous congratulations on the most successful medal haul for a century. A quite stunning achievement. With special mention to Chris Hoy, Rebecca Adlington, Chrisine Ohuruogu, Bradley Wiggins and the other gold medal winners.

Team GB did what the politicians had failed to do, lift our spirits and inspire an otherwise lackadaisical nation to actually look forward to London 2012. Now that really does deserve a medal.
