Verdict of the Week
BBC Axes Crufts Dog Show
The BBC has not renewed the deal to show the world famous Crufts Dog show next year. The Kennel Club, who organise the show, have come under strong criticism for setting impossible standards that encourage breeders to inbreed amongst the pedigrees, causing many deformaties and abnormalities in their to strive for perfection.
Serious health problems are now manifesting themselves in about 14 breeds that pose serious health problems to the dogs.
The Kennel Club have commissioned an independent report in conjunction with The Dog Trust to try and allay the BBC's fears for the following year.
The eCourt Verdict on this is that it agrees with BBC on its stance with this, the Kennel Club set such high and rigid standards and there is so much is at stake commercially for a Crufts winner that we admire the BBC stand here. Back
